Job Threads: New Clothing Assistance Program

Staffanation’s Jeri Lewis is starting a new nonprofit organization that offers clothing assistance. Located in Middletown, Job Threads collects professional attire and then gives it to those who need clothes that are appropriate for a job interview.

Jeri wants to help people get back to work with her free clothing assistance that serves both men and women. Butler County, where Job Threads is located, has seen unemployment grow drastically as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services received over 47,000 new unemployment benefit claims in the first week of February alone.

“Having the right clothes can change lives. It’s about the foundation. They have to be stable if they want to achieve their dreams.”

Clothing Assistance Impact

Having proper interview attire gives people confidence to apply for jobs. Being appropriately dressed also lets them make a good first impression beyond experience on a resume.

Job Threads is expected to open in April. Those who need clothes for an interview must have a reference from one of the staffing organizations working with Job Threads, like Staffanation. Once approved they can make an appointment to visit for clothing assistance.

Support the American Dream

Jeri is our Dream Coach here at Staffanation, an integral part of our American Dream Program. She meets with Staffanation employees for free coaching sessions to define and reach personal goals. As our Dream Coach, she offers our employees and job seekers resources on everything from legal advice to food assistance and more.

Staffanation is proud to support Jeri in her endeavors. We foresee referring many job seekers to Job Threads to prepare for interviews. Local barbers and hair stylists have also volunteered to help people heading out on job interviews, Jeri explained in a recent employment update in the Butler County Journal News. “It’s not a hand out, it’s a hand up.”

Are you cleaning out closets or paring down your work wardrobe? Please consider donating interview-appropriate clothes to Job Threads. You can drop them off at the Staffanation office (1115 Hicks Boulevard, Suite 1 in Fairfield) or at the Job Threads location. That address is 1124 Central Avenue (second floor), Middletown, Ohio.
